Halifax Bank of Scotland deployed Mercury Interactive's performance
monitoring application (Topaz) in 2000 and by 2002 were much
in need of a technical upgrade. ITG agreed to supply the
consultancy services to undertake this particularly challenging
assignment (it is thought that this was the first successful
upgrade of its kind to be attempted without direct Mercury
Interactive supervision). Typical tasks undertaken included
:
Establish
the Topaz technical upgrade path. Implement a performance
monitoring test platform. Install Topaz software and upgrade
to latest version. Establish a reversion path. Re-develop
scripts at VuGen 7.02 (for 30+ applications). Test Tivoli
alerting interfaces for Topaz 'SNMP Alerts'. Confirm performance
reporting post upgrade. Verify the technical upgrade path.
Invoke a parallel run. Upgrade HBOS production (Dial Up BT&FS
split, Security, Web and Intranet) dual site layers. Verify
the HBOS production environment upgrade. Commission Topaz
Version 3.5.
The commissioned
system configuration comprised a single Management Server
configured as Compaq 6400R, Single Processor 500MHz, 512MB
RAM, NT4 SP6a, Microsoft IIS 5.0, SQL Server 7.0, Topaz v3.5
SP1 + patches running VuGen 7.02 scripts) and 10 Agent machines
configured as Compaq DL380, Single Processor 733 MHz128 MB
RAM, NT4 SP6a, Topaz Active Agent v3.5 SP1+ patches).
