ITG was assigned to work on the initial territory (i.e. the UK) within PwC's Global Portal development, its technical
architecture being hosted across three locations; the IBM portal hosting facility in Colorado, the US Security Management
hosting facility at Tampa and the Applications Content and Search hosting facility in London.
ITG reviewed and revised the technical approach for mitigating performance risk to the Search Administration Module - a facility
to create and maintain configuration information about web enabled documents together with the subsequent ability to retrieve
document locations matching a given search request string (or predefined module query).
The Search Administration Module utilised distributed Verity K2 Enterprise architecture (comprising K2 Broker,
K2 Server and K2 Collection tiers) Netegrity's SiteMinder and PwC's common gateway (or Epicentric
Foundation Server). This architecture together with document collections (or indexes) created via either an
HTTP or Lotus Notes Domino gateway (by the Spider component) enabled the return of document references
corresponding to search criteria entered via the Portal.
ITG used Rational Robot/TestManager to calibrate PwC's search function under (Global) normal and peak usage loads.
The test search scripts being designed for later concurrent use with other Portal functionality. ITG both presented "The Verity
K2 Enterprise Technical Architecture" and later demonstrated Mercury Interactive's LoadRunner Version 7.5 to PwC
colleagues.
